We are pleased to announce that Fraud Management Resource Centre is now available free to charities. We have revised and updated our guide and created new resources specifically for Charities which are available without charge. A premium paid for service enables members to access members updates and email support including news aimed specifically for the Charity Sector.

Each day this week we will provide top tips for reducing losses to fraud and introduce you to our guide and resources. Remember to follow us on twitter to get the relevant links each day.

Introduction to holistic fraud management

It is important to understand our overall approach to fraud risk management which is at the heart of our resources and guide. Our short video aimed at charities will explain this in less than 3 minutes! The video can also be downloaded from the resource centre as a powerpoint file for you to share with colleagues.

Does your organisation simply react to incidents of fraud or do you proactively manage the risk?

Fraud losses should be treated as a business cost and organisations should take a strategic approach to reducing those losses.

Charities that put in place an holistic fraud strategy do not simply respond to fraud but also put in place a structure for preventing and deterring fraud.

This requires buy-in and commitment from senior leaders, as well as senior managers across the organisation. Finance, Legal, Compliance, Audit, Risk, HR, Procurement, Facilities Management, Communications and Operational managers all have a role to play in managing fraud risks. Their work in this respect needs to be co-ordinated through expert advice and guidance in order to ensure a consistent and effective approach.

Further details of the importance of taking a strategic approach are contained in our video below.

One last thing.

Don’t forget if you have any questions about using the resource centre or you can’t find the resource you need then premium members have access to our email support where you can raise questions or request specific tools. By responding to these requests we can grow the guide and resources available to the benefit of all members.

As a premium member of FMRC for Charities you will also receive our regular charity specific members updates and news articles as these will be our first notification to you of any key changes to guidance and resources as well as keeping you up to date with legal and regulatory changes.
